The much-awaited Asian Designer Week (ADW), Winter Edition started off on a high note with a splendid show organised at the Garden of Five Senses, New Delhi. The first day of the grand event, with the theme” Fashion Meets Nature” showcased beautifully crafted designs by young talented designers from India and neighbouring countries.

The opening show of the Asian Designer Week was presented by New Gen Asian Designer, Swati Mishra.Her collection, a luxury brand line for women emphasized on  Power & Femininity by making modern yet timeless fashion; using the finest quality of fabrics & couture finishes at the core of every design. The USP in her designs being the High Fashion for all body types, ensuring fit and comfort in all the finely crafted pieces

Most of the designs highlighted on the concept of clothing using natural products like organic cotton, vegetable dyes, natural fibres etc.Promoting the Indian handloom , the heart of the collection was IKKAT, made with distinct style and pure cotton weaves of Mangalagiri , promising beauty with comfort.

Nazila Sawhney , an Afghan-born Canadian fashion designer presented vintage, ethnic Afghan inspired looks with her collection “Afghanistan-A Forgotten Land Collection”, keeping heritage alive while promoting today’s demanding trends.

Sarah Farhana (NextGenDesigner from Bangladesh)showcased six different outfits displaying the colour of Bangladesh in a wide range of style – western, sub-traditional, Indian tribal and fusion. Katan fabric, handloom from famous Banarasi Polli of Mirpur Dhaka were used in the creation of her outfits.

The extravagant evening closed with the designs by NewGen Asian designers.Salil Bhatia showcased his Collection, “PANDORAS BOX”, a tribute to the great Alexander McQueen.  Saluting the spirit of the late Alexander McQueen and bringing to life the divine expressions of McQueen’s morbid fashion, his Fall’17 collection reflected the idea of evil flowing out of the doomed box into the world leaving us with hope.  This unseen display of art blew away the creative minds , with insects crawling out of pockets, snakes Suttin gon lapels, bugs popping out of their burrows and leeches drinking on intoxicating fluids.

NANDITA BIST by Nandita Bist came up with her unique collection based on an unconventional combination of materials like fabric, yarns to create unique textures. Apart from the creative blend of various techniques and materials her designs were innovative and class apart which is sure to make a huge presence in the market, setting a benchmark of high standards.

The 2nd day of the Asian Designer Week held on 5th  November 2017 was showcased by the young and exceptionally talented designers who left the audience enthralled.

The second day of the Asian Designer Week kick started with Puja Pandey, a NewGen Asian designer whose innovative and fascinating outfits stole the show.Next in line were designs presented by few other NewGen Asian designers from Bangladesh such as WALLIS  by Wallis Ahmad Chowdhary and ASHIKUR RAHMAN by Ashikur Rahman Chowdhary. Wallis’s new collection featured flower combinations with clothing and western stripes of the Western Union.  Ashikur Rahman styled his clothing line drawing inspiration from the colourful flowers.The garments showcased by him supported his belief that, “fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, in the environment. It has to do with ideas, the way we live in and things happening around us.”

International School of Design Eco Fashion left no stone unturned. They exhibited some of the high fashion, trendy clothes which captivated the audience and added glitters to the mega event. The show was brought to closure by DYSN BLOOM Talents(presented by VAATSAALYA Charitable Trust For Education).DYSN BLOOM talents comprised of designs by Komal Arora, Mallika Batra, Sonam Ghale, Aksar Bhan and Dolly Nagpal.

The Asian Designer Week Day 2 witnessed a grand celebration of fashion, style and design with a show power packed by forthcoming designers. From a wide range of designers to innovative ideas, inspiration, and a   perfect blend of age-old traditional craftsmanship with contemporary designs, the Day 2 of the Asian Designer Week was a significant event for the fashion fraternity.

Vivek Rawat, Creative Director states,” We had been receiving a lot of applications from new designers who really aspire to mark their strong presence in the fashion industry. We have always realized the potential of this untouched section of designers who could bring revolution in the fashion industry and hence we decided to offer more to them. That’s why this time, we have focused more on the young and emerging talent and hence you will see a lot of fresh talent. They may be new but they are very talented and have the ability to blow your creative minds with their latest collections”.
