Media professionals had an engaging session with Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister (Independent Charge), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, at the conclusion of the two-day Urban Journalism Academy for the World Urban Forum 9.

The academy was organized by the UN Information Centre and UN Habitat as a backgrounder for the World Urban Forum 9 to be held in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia from 7-13 February 2018.

Mr. Puri highlighted a paradigm shift in the implementation of urban flagship missions such as Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, Housing for All and the Smart Cities Mission towards resilient and inclusive cities in India.

Speaking to Fab Info Media along with more than 40 senior and middle level journalists from across the country, the minister emphasized the scale of challenges to address urbanization particularly to meet the target of building 11 million homes by 2022.

 The academy covered the five key pillars of the New Urban Agenda namely, housing, climate change action, sustainability, inclusivity, and resilience.
